Ottawa At Home

Ottawa At Home
Ottawa At Home is the city’s leading homes and lifestyle magazine which is published and distributed 5 times a year. When this client first came to us, they needed a company to handle the magazine’s design from start to finish, including ad management and design, as well as someone to clean up and refresh the current layout design. Luckily the magazine’s fonts and layout where already fairly well done. It just needed to be sharpened up and the layouts needed to be more dynamic and modern. This has been an incredibly fun project to work on. I love doing layout and this magazine allows me to do so many different layouts all in a single piece. It’s hard and a lot of work considering sometimes I have to do an issue in as little as a couple of weeks. But they end result is always something I am proud of. The client has gotten a lot of positive feedback on the new look and feel of magazine and is extremely happy with the direction I have taken it.

Interagency Coalition on Aids and Development is a non-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario. Having worked with this client for a while they came to us wanting a new website. Their old site was very dated and they wanted something bold and modern. One challenge I faced was the site would be extremely text heavy as it’s meant to provide a lot of information. Also, they did not have a lot of high quality photos, and were not interested in stock or professional photography. So I had to create something that would not be overwhelming and people cold still get information quickly. The end result was nothing “fancy” but still gave the client everything they were looking for in a very striking and nicely designed package.

A Nashville Holiday
A Nashville Holiday
After my divorce a couple of years ago, I made it my mission to start the next year off with a BANG! Now I know xmas isn’t techincally the beginning of a new year, but for me it was.
So, me and my mom packed our bags and headed for Nashville to have a honky tonk xmas, and man it was a blast!
Amongst the Ruins
Amongst the Ruins
During the first COVID lockdown I found comfort in going for long hikes. One of these trips took me to the Carbide Willson Ruins, located in Gatineau Park, Quebec. It was almost 8 km one way, but man was it worth it.
The ruins are the last remaining traces of a fertilizer plant constructed by little-known inventor Thomas Leopold Willson. The complex originally included three buildings: an acid condensation tower, a dam and a generating station.
